Vision
Mission
Cahaba Park Church exists to glorify God by establishing and equipping a covenant community to spread the Gospel in word and deed in Birmingham and to the ends of the earth.
Cahaba Park Church will serve the Birmingham area as a learning/fellowship church that focuses on teaching, family life, missions, and prayer (Acts2:42).
- The teaching is characterized by Christ-centered preaching and grace-centered, intellectually challenging education.
- Family life, both corporate and individual, is characterized by an emphasis on sacrificial love, hospitality, and fellowship.
- Missions is characterized by our commitment to spreading the gospel in love through church planting, works of mercy, and correcting social injustice both in our immediate community and beyond.
- We believe that God will provide community transformation through the faith-centered prayers of cahaba park church.
Core Values
Whereas the vision of the church states what the church will look like, the core values state what the church holds dear.
Christ-Centered Preaching
We believe that since the Holy Scriptures are the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16-17) and are applicable to all areas of life, we must devote ourselves first and foremost to the preaching and teaching of the Word. In so doing, we must understand that the Bible requires us to preach its message in such a way as to reveal the grace of God that is the ultimate focus of every Biblical text (Luke 24:27).
Kingdom-Centered Equipping
We believe that the Great Commission, found in Matthew 28:18-20 requires all people to do the work of ministry. It is therefore not only the pastor's responsibility to fulfill Christ's calling, but the members of the congregation as well.
Community-Centered Fellowship
1 John 4 tells us, "We love, because He first loved us." In other words, we have the ability and responsibility to love both God and others because of God's love for us. We believe that one of the primary ways this is done is by showing hospitality to others by inviting them into our homes, sharing meals, enjoying fellowship together and bearing one another's burdens (Heb. 10:23-25; Gal. 6:2).
Faith-Centered Praying
Believe it or not, we can communicate with the Creator of the Universe! God tells us in His Word that He delights to hear and answer our prayers (1 Pet. 3:12; 5:7). As a result of these promises, God works in His creation through the prayers of His people (Matt. 6:5-13).
Grace-Centered Living
We can live the life God calls us to live not because of any ability that is within us, but solely by the grace of God. God's grace is not only the motivation to do His work, but also the enablement.
